Obituary of James Frank Marmino
Jim Marmino, after a brief illness, passed away at Sudbury Health Sciences North, Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Cathy (nee Fraser), his children, Tara Newman McGullam (Shane), Rob Newman (Jane), and was ‘Nonno’ to his three grandchildren, Evan, Braedan, and Michael; his sisters, Theresa ‘Peggy’ Duffy (Paul, deceased), Estelle Scappatura (Frank, deceased), Diane Falcioni-Ricci (Richard Falcioni, deceased; Ben Ricci, deceased); his sisters-in law, Elizabeth Wall, Nancy Peverley, Joyce Fraser, and his brother-in-law, Dalton Gordon; many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Steve and Mary (Felice) Marmino, and his sisters, Marilyn ‘Marlene’ Ricci and Antoinette ‘Toni’ Marmino; his sister-in-law, Barbara Gordon, and brothers-in-law, Terry Fraser and Hugh Fraser. Jim was a devoted History and Latin teacher, community volunteer, appreciator of sports, music and the arts, an ardent student of religion, theology and philosophy, and friend of all mankind; a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and fun-loving ‘Nonno’. He was bigger than life, a very special person on this planet, a loyal friend, and he will be sorely missed. Visitation will be Sunday, April 8, 2-4pm, and 7-9pm, Martyn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Monday, April 9, 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated by the family to Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
