Obituary of Lorena Edna Aiton

It is with great sadness we announce Lorena’s passing, suddenly at Eastholme, Powassan, on Sunday April 10, 2016 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Jack. Mother of Geoffrey (Kathy) Moorhouse, Cynthia (Steve) Levacque, Dwayne Moorhouse; Step Mother of Mike (Karen) Aiton, David (Elizabeth) Aiton, Julie (Mark) Kent, Andrew (Andrea) Aiton and Rodney (Heather) Aiton. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Kevin(Sara), Amanda, Alannah, Melanie, Abigail, Parker, Naomi, Aric, Daria, Jillian, Nicole, Devon and Casey. Surviving sister of Donelda Stewart, sisters-in law Beth Stewart, Audrey Stewart, Phyllis (Peter) Fromager and Pat (Donald) Aiton. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Inez Stewart, sister Eveline, brother Orville and brother Alvey, brothers-in-law Donald (Pat) Aiton, George (Claire) Aiton and sister-in-law Lois (Clare) Webster. Lorena was an avid, life master bridge player, walked 3 miles every day on Northshore Road, skied, was a keen tennis player and roller bladed until her 79th year. She loved to knit, cook, bake, craft and entertain family and friends. She will be fondly remembered by many friends. Many thanks to Dr. Jinnah, Dr. Cowan and the caring staff at Eastholme. The family will receive visitors at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday from 7-9 pm and at St. Andrew’s United Church on Friday from 10-11 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am at St. Andrews. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to Eastholme, Powassan or St. Andrews United Church, North Bay.
