Obituary of Joan Marie Irwin

Joan Marie Irwin (nee Barnes) passed away peacefully at North Bay Regional Health Center on Sunday April 13th, aged 82. Predeceased by her husband Ross W. Irwin (1985) and dear friend Tom Baines (2012) Joan will be greatly missed by her son Brian and his partner Tina Crundwell of North Bay, her daughter Karen and son-in-law Norio, of St. Paul, Minnesota and her brother George Barnes and sister-in-law Yvonne of St. Stephen, NB as well as her grandchildren Jenna and Dillon Irwin of Ottawa and Hannah and Meg Hasegawa of St. Paul. Joan will also be deeply missed by her brother-in-law Jim Irwin and his wife Shirley of Southampton ON as well as her nieces, nephew and sister-in-law Margaret. Joan leaves behind many dear friends from her lifelong commitment to the Girl Guides of Canada, her involvement in The Algonquin Regiment on behalf of the late Lt. Col. R. W. Irwin, Nipissing University Alumni, Christchurch Anglican and her RCAF teaching career. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit at NBRHC for their loving care and kindness during Joan's extended stay there, especially Christine, Colleen, Mary, Stephanie, Ron.
