Anna,Shawn and family. So sorry to hear of the passing of Dick. What a tremendous person. Throughout my minor hockey life as a player and an official, Dick was always around ensuring that we all had a great time and that everything was organized so that we could enjoy ourselves playing our favourite game. For his sharing of knowledge with me when I was chair of the Golden Puck Hockey Tournament and to the numerous events Dick was involved with for the betterment of others and the City of North Bay we will always be grateful. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with all of us. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this trying time!! God Bless.

Anna and Family I'm out of the country and just learned of Dick's death. I'm truly sorry that I won't be able to pay my respects personally. I have know Dick for many years and always respected his commitment and loyalty to the kids and our game. He certainly was involved for all of the right reasons. He had a positive approach and looked at what was best for all not just his own jurisdiction. I know how difficult it is to lose a spouse and best friend. I send my thought and prayers. Joe

Deepest condolences to the Prescott family. I worked worked with Dick at North Bay Psychiatric Hospital for over thirty years and enjoyed many coffee breaks at his table. His immense passion for hockey was obvious and he always had interesting (and entertaining) stories to relate about the sport and the organizations and people supporting the game. When he spoke of his family, there was unmistakable pride in his voice. At NBPH, Dick seemed to function at twice the pace of the rest of us and could always be counted on to jump in to meet seemingly impossible targets. That quality is reflected in his contributions to hockey and public service. Whether it was leading the organizing process or doing front line work, Dick could be counted on to be first to volunteer. He had a rare, memorable character that has left an imprint on many people. In terms of taking on a project, rolling up his sleeves, getting to work, and making it happen for the good of the community, Dick was an inspiration.

My sincere sympathies to all of Dick's family. Working with Dick over the years was a joy and privilege as his dedication and passion for what he was involved in was always front and centre. The money he raised during the 1989 Ontario Winter Games amazed everyone involved and was one of the main reasons behind the success of the Games. Dick's attitude of "why not" instead of "why" benefited many people in our community and made North Bay a better place. Thanks Dick for all that you did.

We are so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Dick was so compassionate and caring in his neighbourhood, whether it be shoveling snow or smiling comments to passers-by from his perch on the front lawn. Big hugs out to Anna and the family. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
