Obituary of Erma Downey-Fay

Peacefully in her sleep at Eastholme on Wednesday February 28, 2018 in her 85th year. Loving mother of Bruce (Joan Knox Downey) and their sons Jackson and Clarke, and Mark (Tatiana Teplyakova) and their children Brandon and Kurt Downey and Anastasia Teplyakova. Predeceased by her husband Eugene Fay. Loving daughter of the late Allan and Doris Burris of Madoc. Also predeceased by her older brother Ray Burris of Madoc. Survived by her sister Joan Darling of Burlington. Erma was a highly respected teacher for over 35 years and spent 20 of those years at Almaguin Highlands Secondary School in South River. She was an active member of St. Andrew's United Church, the University Women's Book Club, the Retired Teachers Organization and the United Church Women. Friends may call at St. Andrew's United Church on Saturday March 24 from 10 am - 12 pm. A celebration of Erma's life will begin at 12 pm followed by a reception in the church hall. Erma's ashes will be interred in the family plot at the Hazzards Cemetery, Madoc in the spring. If desired donations to the Loaves and Fishes Program at St. Andrew's United Church.
