Obituary of Shirley Joy Almeda Meads
Our beautiful Mom, Shirley Meads left the world peacefully and surrounded by the love of her small but mighty family, on June 29, 2022, at the age of 91. She was the beloved wife of the late Wallace Meads, incredible mother to Kathe Wilkie and Yvonne and Mike Morin, and #1 Nana to Jacob Morin.
Shirley is survived by her sister Betty Baetz of Kingston, and Glen and Angela Hincks of Markham, as well as Glen and Evelyn Meads of Priceville, June MacLachlan of Markdale and Emma Stevenson of Durham. Shirley was blessed with many nieces and nephews, who remained connected and engaged with her, to the end. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Flossie Hincks, brothers Eric (Violet), Ken (Merle), Elvin, and Trevor Baetz, and brothers-in-law Robert (Joyce), Ken (Marybelle), Emerson (Margot), Allan MacLachlan, and James Stevenson.
Mom impacted the lives of so many people - young and old. From being a senior “pen pal” to school aged children, to volunteering for her beloved Cassellholme “seniors” for over 40 years, to serving her church in numerous capacities - Mom’s life was built around service. Once a connection was made with Shirley, it was made for life.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will take place at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Tuesday July 5, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church - Mission and Outreach or to the Cassellholme Charitable Foundation.
