Dear Kathe, Yvonne, Jacob and Mike We were so sorry to hear of your moms passing. Whenever we were in Ontario and had the opportunity to see extended family members, Shirley stood out with her welcoming greeting, happy demeanor and sincere conversation that always demonstrated her care and concern for those around her. We know, during this difficult time, you will be supported by friends and family just as she supported and shared with those around her through both difficult and joyous times. Dear Yvonne, Mike, Jacob and Kathe:
Shirley was an amazing person, and you could tell that she loved all of you so very deeply. Family meant so very much to her, and so did her friends!!
It was a wonderful blessing to me when God made the paths of our lives cross.
She and Wally introduced me to my Calvin Church family years ago.
She could celebrate a birthday like no one I ever knew, her sense of fun was boundless!
She lives on in the treasured memories all who knew her carry in their hearts.
May God's ministering angels comfort you in your grief during this sad time.

Dear Kathe, Yvonne and family
Your mom and dad had such an impact on me the year I lived with them while attending teacher’s college at Nipissing. I was a newlywed away from home Monday-Friday and your parents treated me so very well. Your mom was always so loving and energetic;one of her many gifts was bringing out the best in others. One of the many things she taught me was how important it is that when you hear a compliment about someone, be sure it gets back to the person for whom the compliment is about. I literally told hundreds of my students and my staffs about your mom and her philosophy every time I would share with them the good news I had heard about them- your mom, directly and indirectly, affirmed and helped so many people to be their best. Shirley was a very dear Family Friend. She was always interested in knowing what was going on in your life whenever we talked. She enriched many lives through the years. Playing the piano, accordian, and singing she was in her element. Maybe antique shopping too at one point.
Your Mom was immensely proud of her Girls and Family. She always knew she was in good hands.
Kathe and Yvonne, remember the little things, like warm hugs, shared smiles, laughter, and the stories. These precious memories will help you in the days ahead. Her compassion, kindness, and spirit lives on in both of you.
I carry many fond memories of my life over the years in Shirley's company of summer holdays, visits, calls, and lots of fun and entertainment. (on 1 or 2 occasions we drove your Mom and Dad nuts singing in the car drives)
Shirley you will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace.

My favorite memory of your mom was when we were staying at her house and she made something Amy wouldn’t eat. Every time your mom turned her back, I would take a bite of Amy’s food. It didn’t take long for your mom to realize the situation and get busy with her back turned :)
Amy and I have such happy memories of your mom (and dad). She was such a dear! She raised 2 beautiful women who also left an indelible impression on two little girls. So thankful for your family!

Shirley will be fondly remembered as one of our beloved volunteers at the former North Bay General Hospital where she entertained the long-term care patients with her gift of piano songs and singing. She brought so much joy to her audience and truly loved sharing her time and talents.
