Obituary of William John Ruttan
Born Oshawa, Ontario July 30, 1931, died Barrie, Ontario May 2, 2022, resided Trout Lake, Corbeil, Ontario. We are saying a sad goodbye to our father and Papa Ruttan who at 90 years old lived a full rewarding life. Bill passed away peacefully with some of his family at his bedside at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, On. Predeceased by his wife of 67 years Lydia Ruttan (nee Carfagnini) and his parents John A. Ruttan and Ivy Clara Ruttan (nee Black). Survived by his sisters June Dennis and Mona McConnell, his three daughters Carol Romaine (husband Wayne), Brenda Sharpe (husband Gary), Nancy Tellier (husband Joseph), grandchildren Darcy Romaine (wife Michelle), sons Xavier and Emerson; Tiffany Romaine Lawson, daughter Claire; Jessica Sharpe Feeney (husband Ryan), sons Freddie and Henry; Jordan Sharpe (Clemence); Cory Grimster; Lindsay Ambeau (Nathan), sons Ethan and Eddie; Danielle Tellier (Sara). In addition, many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Rest In Peace, Papa we will miss you. William (Bill) Ruttan with his wife Lydia were a formidable team in the building of residential homes and land development business. They built homes and developed subdivisions in Parry Sound, Muskoka, North Bay, Sudbury and Florida. Bill was an incredibly hard worker with a work ethic second to none. He had a deep love for the outdoors and nature as he hunted and fished all over Canada and the United States. He and Lydia travelled extensively and enjoyed their winter home in Sebring, Florida for many years. Bill was a life-long member of his church, Calvary Pentecostal in North Bay, Ontario which he was proud of and loved. His home on Trout Lake in Corbeil, Ontario was built by himself and his wife Lydia. Over 40 years they enjoyed the sunsets, the tranquility of the lake and being surrounded by nature that they loved. The home and property was thoroughly enjoyed by his family for many years. Thank you, Papa. Dad loved his family and was exceedingly proud of each and every one of his children, sons in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral and celebration of his life will be at Calvary Pentecostal Church 271 Ski Club Road North Bay, Ontario. Saturday May 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home. At this time there will be no public visitations at the funeral home. All family members are invited to the funeral. Other guests will be extended a personal invitation. Masks are mandatory for the funeral service. A family committal service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Forest Lawn Cemetery North Bay, On. In lieu of a luncheon due to Covid, the family have made a donation to Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Should you wish to honour Bill with a donation in his memory please consider The Gideons International, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society.
