BANKS – Jessie (Skellern)

Peacefully passed away at home, on Saturday May 5, 2018, while in her 93rd year.  Jessie was the beloved wife of the late Ken Banks, who predeceased her in 2008. At the time of his passing they had been married for 58 years.  The loving and dedicated mother of Janet Villeneuve (Ron), Gladys May Banks- Bryer (Keith), Rae Fournier (Bob), Lee Chorley (Les), and the late Bill (Angela), Jessie held a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren Darren Villeneuve( Steve), Ryan Villeneuve (Lindsay), Todd Villeneuve (Keisha), Scott Villeneuve (Amanda), Richard Fournier (Marlise), Brad Fournier (Kayla), Shawna Rae Fournier, Kayla Banks, Michael Banks, Travis Chorley (Ashley), and her great grandchildren Ryder, Bodhi, Allie, Sloane, Kessler, Shea, Peyton, Mia and Sadie. She was also predeceased by her brother Allen Skellern (late Barb).  Born and raised in North Bay Jessie attended Dr. Carruthers Public School and North Bay Institute & Vocational School.  She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in 1943 and faithfully served until 1946.   She served as President of the North Bay & District Canadian Club (1973 – 75), and enjoyed being co-director of tours with her dear friend Karin McMurchy.   After raising her family she worked for several years as a clerk in the North Bay Family Court, retiring in 1995. The Banks’ were long time dedicated members of Trinity United Church. After retiring she and Ken travelled to visit family, worked around the house, enjoyed gardening and spending time at the cottage.  In keeping with her wishes her body will be cremated.  Friends may call at Martyn Funeral Home tomorrow, Tuesday May 8, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm.  Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in Trinity United Church, at 11:00am, on Wednesday May 9th.  Interment of her ashes in the family plot, North Bay Union Cemetery. The Banks family would like to offer special thanks to Care Partners, Trista and Shelby, Blue Sky Support workers, PSW’s Christine and Melissa, and especially Donna for the care and compassion given to their Mom.   If desired donations to Trinity United Church or Nipissing Serenity Hospice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
