AUSTIN – Donald Donald Austin passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday July 7th, 2011. For fifty eight years Don was the beloved husband of Joan (nee Childs). He was the proud and loving father of Dale and Melody (Jim). His granddaughters Bethany, Jocelyn and Karlyn Wood adored their Grampie. Survived by his sister Vivian MacKenzie of Sudbury, Don was born in Capreol to the late Norman and Clara Austin. He was also predeceased by his brothers Ross, Ralph, Leo, Jack, and his sister Kathleen. After graduating from high school Don served briefly in the armed forces. Following a ten year career as a brakeman with the ONR Don was a well known North Bay Real Estate Broker /Salesman for thirty years, and served as President of the N.B.R.B. in 1977. He retired from a successful Real Estate Career in 1986. A faithful member of Trinity United Church and a member of Trinity A.O.T.S Men’s Group, he enjoyed travelling, fishing, hunting and hockey games and especially visiting with friends and relatives. Don loved people and treated everyone with much caring and respect. He was a very positive person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service will be held in Trinity United Church on Tuesday July 11 at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow in North Bay Union Cemetery. If desired donations in Don’s memory to the Canadian Diabetic Association or to Trinity United Church will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
