Uncle Gary was generous with himself and his time. He liked to be around his friends and family and though he didn't say much he participated by listening. Aunt Shirley would tell me to ask him his opinion on things, then of course be quiet and listen. These are some of my best memories because it was so great to hear him talk. As a kid I couldn't understand how he could possibly sleep late on Christmas mornings because we always had some presents for him. Uncle Gary might have been too soft for this world. He deserves the better place where he is now. If all people need about the same amount of love, then in the end he has plenty.

I will always remember him as Uncle Gary as that is what we called him when he was at our place (Hay Bay) with David , in Cochrane, in at the Lodge or in recent years in North Bay. Gary was a gentle giant who will be missed in the chain of life but is in a much better place now! We are all better for having known Gary, fished with him and played cards with him. RIP Gary Tom & Elaine Barbour
