Obituary of Anne Darling

DARLING – Anne (nee Kolaski) 1921 - 2014 The Darling family sadly announces the death of their dear mother Anne, at Eastholme, Powassan, on Wednesday March 19th, 2014. For fifty years she was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Basil Darling. He predeceased her in August of 1991. The proud and loving mother of Gail Darling (Carol Sorjonen) of Toronto, David Darling ( Phyllis Loxton) of Powassan, and Brian Darling (Glennys) of Cambridge , she will also be lovingly remembered by her grandson Patrick of Kitchener , her granddaughter Tammy, and her great grandchildren Ethan and Ariel, all of Vancouver. Anne is also survived by her sister Victoria Ropchan (George) of Toronto and her brother Peter Kolaski of Oakville. The daughter of the late Wasyl William Kolaski and Vasylena Matymish, she was also predeceased by her brothers John, George and Nick Kolaski. A dedicated wife and mother Anne was also an accomplished bridge player. She achieved her Life Master of Duplicate Bridge at a fairly young age and played most of her life. In her younger years she curled, bowled, clogged, and line danced well into her 80’s. Her declining health necessitated her move to Eastholme a few years ago. Her family are especially grateful for the care and compassion given to their Mom by the staff on the South Wing. Your many kindnesses were much appreciated. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 -9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
