Obituary of Kathleen Helen Armstrong

ARMSTRONG - Kathleen Helen "Kay" nee Coope Kay Armstrong died peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Friday January 11, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Kay was the beloved wife of Chancey E.T. "Chan" Armstrong whom she married on April 3rd, 1943. Chan, and her dear daughter Gail both predeceased Kay. Born in Welland Ontario Kay was the daughter of the late James and Maude Coope. She was predeceased by her two brothers Ken and Doug. A nurse by profession she nursed in the Welland and Sudbury Hospitals before joining the VON in North Bay. A dedicated wife and mother Kay was a very active and long time member of First Baptist Church. She volunteered with the Cancer society for over 35 years, and was a proud recipient of a Life Membership in the Hospital Volunteer Association of Ontario for her many years of service. Kay also served as a board member of the North Bay Union Cemetery. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters in law Velma Priest and Shirley Currie, her extended family that included her nieces and nephews, her many friends, and she will be sadly missed by her dedicated supporters Marylou and John Tomlinson, and her dear friend Diane Szewczyk . In keeping with Kay's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday January 18, 2013 at Leisureworld Care Giving Centre, 401 William Street. Interment of ashes will take place in the spring in the family plot in North Bay Union Cemetery. If desired donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation, the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or First Baptist Church will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
