MacLean, James Allen “Jim”
It is with great sadness that the MacLean family announce the sudden passing of James Allen “Jim” MacLean at the Stratford Hospital in Stratford, Ontario on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, he was in his 79th year. Beloved father of Michael MacLean, Nancy MacLean, Douglas MacLean (Andrea), and Susan Zivanovic. Proud grandfather of Jackie Kraemer, John Kraemer, James MacLean, Cory MacLean, Zachary Schleyer, MacLean Kuraitis, Robert MacLean, Joseph MacLean, Steven MacLean and Spencer Zivanovic. Jim will be sadly missed by his sisters Marlene Bobenic, Joanne Smith, along with many nieces and nephews and his close friend Pat Scott. Jim is predeceased by his Father, Allen MacLean, Mother Edythe Moore, and Step Father, Dr. A. Moore and sister Barbara Schrecengost. Jim was born in New Liskard, ON and raised in North Bay and always considered himself a Northern boy. He completed his education at RPI in Troy New York, where he played varsity hockey and also met his former wife Ida Kerr. Jim's love for hockey carried well into his adult life. He coached many minor hockey teams in Fergus. He also played Oldtimers Hockey for the Fergus Grey Machine. He was a retired high school teacher with the Wellington County School Board. Jim retired to his log cabin which he built with his own hands in Arnstein-- this is where he was most at peace. When fall arrived he would follow his mother's footsteps and head to southern Florida where he became a second generation Snow Bird. Family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Port Loring Cemetery in the family plot.
