BUCKLEY - Louis Frederick William - Died peacefully at North Bay General Hospital on November 1, 2011, in his 89th year. His siblings Eleanor, Irwin, Howard & Robin predeceased Louis, son of the late Elgin Lancelot Buckley and Ethel Robinson. His loving wife, Christina Lumsden Brown & three daughters: Julia Tipler (Jack), Callander, Corrine Found (Rick) & Christina Dillon (Michael), North Bay, survive Louis. Also surviving him are 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey Tipler, Jonathan Tipler (Samantha), Richard Found (Sarah), & Heather Found, all of North Bay, and three great grandchildren: Jackson, Abbey & Einin Tipler. Louis was born at Tara, Ontario on November 12, 1922. He moved to Redbridge when he was a young boy. During his life Louis worked as a logger, a maintenance worker for the Department of Veteran Affairs & a heavy machine operator. He became the Superintendent of Roads, Water & Sewers for the former Township of Widdifield & later for the amalgamated city of North Bay. Louis then ventured into a new career as a shareholder and manager of Northfield Block & Gravel. When the block plant was sold he continued managing Northfield Sand & Gravel until his retirement in 1982. Louis served his country during World War 11 as a Private, 4th Division, Infantry & Armour, 10th Brigade in the Lincoln-Welland Regiment. On his first leave in 1944, while training in England, Louis traveled to Glasgow to meet a cousin. While searching for his cousin's home he met a lovely young woman, Christina Lumsden Brown, who became his wife on March 29, 1945 in Glasgow, Scotland. Louis loved walking, fishing & puttering around the house, yard & garage. In his earlier years he tended his vegetable garden with care. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23. His family and friends will miss Louis. Visitation will be at Martyn Funeral Home on Saturday, November 5th from 1-3, followed by the service at 3:00 PM. The interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
