Obituary of Doreen Iris Berry

On Thursday May 31, 2012 at Cassellholme. Doreen Iris Berry (nee Prophet), was the beloved wife of the late Harvey Berry, in her 88th year. Loving mother of Gordon Berry and his wife Prima of Sturgeon Falls, Janis and her husband Lorie Reed of Callander and Norman Berry and his wife Patti of Durham. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Brian (friend Michelle), Nick (wife Suzanne), Jessica (husband Mark), Erica (friend Chris), Candice (husband André), Travis (wife Mayumi) and by her eight great grandchildren. Dearly loved sister of Irma (husband George Potter) of Jacksonville, N.C. and Rodney Prophet (wife Eleanor, predeceased) of North Bay. Doreen was born, was married and started her family in Englehart. Most of her working life was spent at St. Joseph`s Hospital in North Bay, first as a registered nurse, then as the Director of Housekeeping and she was recognized as an honourary member of the Quarter Century Club. Doreen enjoyed travelling and was happy spending time with family and friends. She was also a long time member of Emmanuel United Church and served on many committees there. Thank you to the staff at Cassellholme for their compassionate care. Resting at the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services at Emmanuel United Church (395 Lakeshore Drive) on Monday at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Terrace Lawn Cemetery. After the interment a luncheon will be served by the United Church Women at Emmanuel and the family invites everyone to return to the church to share their memories of Doreen. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Emmanuel United Church Mortgage Fund would be appreciated by the family.
