Ruth Holliday was the youngest of her siblings by 10 years. The family immigrated from Denmark to Pass Lake, Ontario in 1927 where they homesteaded a farm. Occasionally they temporarily moved to the city of Port Arthur/Fort William when their father would work as a carpenter for short periods of time to make ends meet. during the depression. Ruth as an adult (with Lloyd) moved on to North Bay where they resided permanently and had their own family. Ruth and her family made pilgrimages "home to Pass Lake" throughout the years which always generated a lot of happy excitement for her sisters (Asta, Olga and Margaret) who had remained and started their own families in Pass Lake). The crowd of "cousins" created a lot of their own excitement and activity (we must have been a handful to manage!). Ruthie/Aunt Ruth many times drove from North Bay to Thunder Bay/Pass Lake and return BY HERSELF ... which still amazes me but to her it was no big deal. She was an amazing person who we also will always remember with a special fondness for her love of family, quiet sense of humour, and for just being her - our "Ruthie" or our "Aunt Ruth". Loved so much.
