Obituary of Daniel Joseph Backer

BACKER: Daniel Darwin Sept. 20, 1941-May 21, 2011 Passed away at the Mattawa General Hospital, on Saturday May 21st at the age of 69. Daniel was the beloved husband of the late Danielle (nee Belanger) and loved father of Dean (Sherry-Lee), D’Arcy (Crystal), Derek (Sara) of Mattawa and Dana (Vanessa) of Timmins. He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Ty, McKenna, Kyle, Nicholas, Noah, Reid and Avery. Dear brother of Betty Valade and son in law of Francoise Belanger. Predeceased by his parents Reginald and Muriel (nee Chaput) and Sister Joan Reis. Daniel retired from CP Rail in 2003 and enjoyed his backyard, listening to music (Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Julio Iglesias etc..), CSI television series, the many visits from family and friends and teasing his sons about their beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Family and friends may pay their respects at thee Martyn & Sloan “Mattawa Chapel”, on Friday May 27 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Anne Parish Church, on Saturday May 28, 2011 at 11:00am.
