McLay, John Herman John died peacefully surrounded by loving family and under the care of the compassionate staff at Cassellholme on Tuesday June 28, 2016, John Herman McLay of North Bay, passed away at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Ivy (Wootton) McLay of 63 years. Loving father of John McLay of Edmonton, AB, Bonnie McLay of St. Albert, AB and Brenda McLay of North Bay. Cherished grandfather of Krystal McLay of Edmonton, AB and Miranda McLay of Spruce Grove, AB. Dear brother of Allan McLay (late Joyce) of Mississauga, Mary Lemmond (late Bill) of Washington, late Dee and Ted Knowles of Hepworth, late Bud McLay (Charon) of Stokes Bay, Danny McLay (Linda) of Lion’s Head and late Dianne Hyatt (Walt) of Calamachie, ON. John is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Ellen McLay, father- and mother- in-law Emmanuel and Ivy Wootton, and nephew Wayne Knowles. Family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Christ The King Chapel CFB North Bay from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will take place at Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired, donations to the Northern Cancer Research or Carmichael United Church would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
