Obituary of Theresa McParland
Theresa (nee Taillefer) McParland
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Eastholme after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s in her 96th year. Daughter of Joseph Taillefer and Parmelia Lamothe, she was the devoted wife to Stan, her husband of 56 years, who predeceased her in 2007. Theresa leaves to mourn her five daughters Marlene (Mike) Perreault, Sharon (Bob) Robertson, Karen (Scott) Murray, Dorothy McParland and Colleen (Tom) Parker as well as her sister Madeleine (Bill) Eisen, her brother Louis (Theresa) Taillefer and her sister-in-law Lottie Taillefer. She was also predeceased by her brothers Malcolm (Eva), Rene, Leo and sisters Jeanne (Art) Oliver, Annette, Rita (Richard) Keenan, Pauline (Andy) McParland and Jacqueline. She was the cherished memere to Mitch (Joanna), Kevin (Cass) and Lisa Perreault, Brad and Ryan Murray, Melissa and Meaghan Robertson, Alexandra and Olivia Parker and grand-memere to Bennett and Autumn.
Theresa was a devout Catholic who doted on her family. Stan and Theresa’s home was always filled with love and laughter. Theresa especially loved Christmas time and would start decorating for the season in November to make it special for everyone. The door to the McParland house was always open and their motto of “the more the merrier” was always apparent as she was the first to offer up her home for family meals, sing-songs and celebrations. Theresa will be sorely missed by many and her memory will live on. A special thank you to Chris as well as to the wonderful staff of Eastholme and Father Tony from St. Joseph’s parish. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 31 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Martyn’s Funeral Home and a mass of Christian burial will take place at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption Monday, February 1 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Cremation to follow. Online condolences may be offered at www.martynfh.com.
