Obituary of Verdella Murphy

Murphy: (Ferron) Verdella "Dell" ( February11th, 1923 - December 25th, 2015) In the wee hours of Christmas morning a loving Mom and gracious woman, Dell Murphy (nee Hammell) took her very last breath on earth and her very first breath in heaven. Born in Mactier in 1923, Verdella was the eldest of nine children born to Randall and Mary Hammell (nee Allan). She moved to North Bay along with her family in 1931 where she then attended Dr. Carruthers P.S. She graduated from NBCI&VS just as the war broke out. Dell married a Canadian soldier Sgt. Robert L (Bob) Ferron in the spring of 1943. Together, during their marriage they raised three sons; Richard (Shirley), Ken (Leah), and Rob (Lara Roberts). Loving Grandmother to Jennifer (Bryan) Windle, Aimee (Derek) Bouis, Jeff (Sarah) Ferron, Christopher (Laura) Ferron, Erica Ferron (Graham McKendry), and Brittany (Andrew) Rideout. Great Grandmother to 12 children. In 1981, Dell married Clarence Murphy and became step-Mom to Donna, Gerry, Jim, Mary Lynn, Denise and Jennifer and their combined 10 children. For the next 25 years Clare and Dell enjoyed life together until his passing in 2006. Left to mourn Dell's passing her only surviving sibling Keith (Cecile) Hammell, and her sisters in law Maxine, Carol, Adele, Alice Mathieu and life long friend Kay King. Dell's funeral will be held at Bethel Gospel Chapel, 1710 O'Brien Street, where she fellowshipped, on Wednesday, December 30th. Visitation from 12:30 - 2:30.The funeral will follow at 2:30pm.
