Obituary of Gilbert Francis Anishnabie

ANISHNABIE, Gilbert Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, September 11, 2015. Gilbert was in his 72nd year, beloved husband of Victoria (nee Renaud), and the devoted father of Gilbert, Cheryl and Lori Anishnabie. Dear brother of Henry Anishnabie, and proud grandfather of Steven, Justine, Logan, and Lukas. Gilbert also had a "special moccasin" for the family cat, Cali. Predeceased by his loving parents: Noah and Edna (Goulais) Anishnabie. Gilbert will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces/great nieces/great-great nieces/great-great-great nieces, nephews, and friends. Gilbert was a retired heavy equipment operator, talented taxidermist, gifted carver, awesome artist, and overall caring individual. Special thanks for the tender care provided by the A1 and D3 nursing teams at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, as well as to Dr. Buckley and Elena for always making the time for us. The funeral mass will be held at Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Thursday, September 17th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will take place following the service. Gilbert put up a valiant fight and is finally in a much better place ~ painfree. There will be no visitation; however, there will be a light lunch served afterwards in the Parish.
