Obituary of Jana Marie Stezka
Please share a memory of Jana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jana Marie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and close friends after a brave battle with cancer. Jana is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 50 years, Antonin “Tony” Stezka, her daughters, Lenka Eberhardt (William), Jana Cesarano (Tony), four wonderful grandchildren, Max, Sam, Ava and Maya, and her brother, Petr Lorenz of Brno, Czech Republic. Jana is predeceased by her parents, Anna Lorenzova, Antonin Lorenz and brother Ivan Lorenz.
A Celebration of Jana’s Life will take place on Sunday, May 3rd from 1pm-4pm in the club house at Osprey Links Golf Club at 207 Osprey Drive, in Callander.
Born in Brno, Czech Republic, Jana had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed sky diving and motorcycling in her youth. She made the courageous decision to immigrate to North Bay with her husband and baby girls in 1968 to begin a new life together. She worked at Canadian Medical Laboratories until her retirement in 1997. Family was most important to Jana, who she loved and protected fiercely and enjoyed spending time with regularly. She made friends easily wherever she went, often turning brief encounters into lifelong friendships. Her home was her castle; Jana loved to cook and entertain. She had a zest for life, a terrific sense of humor, was passionate about cooking and gardening and loved to travel with her first mate.
Special thanks to her care providers Drs. Stemp and Abeysinghe. The family is incredibly grateful to Heather McGuinty and nurses of the North East Community Care Access Centre, and to family friend, Robbie Douglas, who so compassionately aided the family in her final days. We must also acknowledge the exceptional generosity and support of friends and neighbours throughout this challenging time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
