Maxine Sills of Mattawa, Ontario, passed away on Sunday April 20, 2014, at Mattawa General Hospital in her 89th year after a brief illness. Maxine is predeceased by her husband Le Roy Sills. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Helena Embury. She is survived by her sister Irma Martin ( Late Lyle Martin) of Corbyville; sisters-in-law, Donna Duffy ( Late Armand Duffy) of Belleville, and Nancy Allin of Corbyville.
She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Carlene (Colin) Petherick, Robert (Charlene McIntee)Martin, Darryl (Shelley) Martin, David (Chantal Batt) Martin, David (Crista) Allin and Sherri Lynn (Todd McAllister) Allin, Brian( Joan Parker) Duffy, Ernie Duffy, Cindy Duffy, Danny Duffy, Sharon Duffy, James Duffy, Karen( Cam Paterson)Duffy and predeceased by Gregory Duffy.
Fondly remembered by great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Braedon Martin; Thomas Martin; Blake and Travis Duffy; Daniel, Amanda and Sarah Taylor; Morag, Keegan and Angus Paterson; Harper and Meg Duffy; Liam Duffy; Owen Benjamin; Sarah Allin; and great-great niece Ava Taylor.
During their marriage of 57 years, LeRoy and Maxine lived and ran auto-mechanics businesses in Seattle,Washington, and Peterborough, Ontario, before settling in Mattawa more than 40 years ago. In Mattawa, LeRoy taught at the local high school and Maxine worked at the public library until her retirement.
Maxine was a voracious reader, environmentalist, gardener and a gentle soul, who by her very nature, tread softly on this earth. By example she encouraged us all to do the same.
Donations to the Mattawa General Hospital Inc, and Mattawa Public Library. Respecting Maxine’s wishes, cremation has taken place at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.
