Obituary of Thomas Harold Whitney

WHITNEY: Thomas Harold Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Home on Monday, April 21, 2014, he was in his 89th year. Harold was the beloved husband of Winnifred Whitney (nee Sayers). Cherished father of Thomas Whitney, Sheila Page (Steve) and Margaret McDiarmid (Darren). Proud grandfather of Heather Lefebvre (Etienne), James (Michelle) and, Kimberly Whitney, Matthew & Jason Page, Whitney, Madison and Kyle McDiarmid. Sadly missed by his siblings Georgenia Williams, Kaye Macdonald and was predeceased by parents George & Mabel Whitney and by his brother Don. Harold was a veteran of the Second World War, serving as a Gunner on a Merchant Ship. He worked for many years for the LCBO, retiring as a Store Manager. Besides spending time with his family, Harold loved fishing and camping in the summer and cross-country skiing & curling in the winter. Family will receive friends at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Friday, April 25th from 12noon until the time of the funeral service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will take place at Forest Lawn Crematorium following the funeral service.
