I was a young lad in North Bay working for Air Canada when I met Merv. So many fond memories playing cards and ice fishing with him and my father. I remember him as a good and gentle man. My thoughts are with your family. Bob Cleroux Ottawa.

Glen Urquhart posted a condolence

My father was Joe Urquhart, deceased 1998. Joe worked with Merv for many years with Imperial Oil. They were the best of friends. I am 60 yrs. old and I had not seen "Mr. Wilson" for 50 yrs. I was in Roger's Jewellers 3 yrs. ago, when this gentleman asked me if I was Glen Urquhart and that is when I recognized Merv. We got talking and I mentioned my mother, Peggy, deceased 1998, had kept a lot of pictures, Imperial Oil Christmas parties etc., and that I have a picture of Merv and my dad standing beside a new Autocar, Nov/61, that I have hanging on my wall at home. After talking to Merv for quite some time, he invited me and my wife to his house. Upon arriving, Merv had many pictures that were identical to the pictures my mother had kept, along with the Autocar picture. Merv then proceeded to give me an Autocar Zippo lighter that was still in the box. I told Merv I could not accept that but he insisted. I knew Merv liked fishing and loved pickerel. Since that day, my wife and I would drop over a couple of times a year with fresh pickerel. We would always send him a Christmas card. We will miss doing this. We will miss Merv, he was such a good man and friend. Our sincere condolences to all the Wilson family. Glen and Sue Urquhart.
