Mother used to tell us about her times kayaking on the Aasee in her home town of Muenster in Westphalia, Germany. Her parents let her go by herself when she was eleven or twelve. I used to think that that might have been a bit frightening for such a young child but now that I have seen the Aasee, I see what a beautiful and quiet lake it is: A small, city-size lake fed by a small, meandering river, not dangerous at all. I will miss my Oma. I miss the way I could tell she lit up whenever I called her and I will miss all of her stories of when she was younger and when my father was a child. I didn't know my Opa but Oma told me so much about him and had so much love to share that I felt like I did. I love you Oma, I miss your visits when I was a kid, it was always something that I counted the days. I think about you whenever I see Manner wafers. (Something she would always bring with her for us kids when she came for visits). :)

Hello Ursula, My sincere condolences on the recent loss of your mother. I met her only once and actually spoke German to her. She was so pleasant. You and your family are in my thoughts at this difficult time. Sincerely, Rita
