Surrounded by family at Cassellholme, Home for the Aged, on Friday, February 16th, 2018. Dearly loved husband of the late Kathleen (nee Turner) and Antoinette Depatie (nee Guilbault), in his 98th year. Predeceased by his siblings Stewart, Belle, Christine, Esther and Norman. Loving father of Jack (Bonnie), Mike, Virginia Mckenzie and Kathy Fortin (Richard Assinewai). He will be fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law Sue and son-in-law Doug. Sadly missed by grandchildren Tom, Jamie, Shawn, Maranda, Jason, Daren, Jennifer, Jessica, Darcy, Terry, Natasha, and great grandchildren Courtney, Thomas, Braydin, Reilly, Noah, Maddy (Poopsy), Troy, Amiah, Madison, Denton, Greyson, Lila and August. A proud 2nd Canadian Engineers 21st Army Group. Part of DDay invasion, participated in the liberation of France, Belgium and Holland. Crossed into Germany from Nijmegen. A honoured recipient of the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for service to our Country in 2012. Tom then became a full time Prospector exploring the North. His favourite spot in the world was being on Lake Temagami. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday February 26th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Tuesday, February 27th .A traditional service will commence at 11am, followed by a lunch at the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre 980 Cassells Street. The family wishes to say Chi Miigwetch (thank you) to the staff of the NBRHC as well as the staff of Casselholme. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23 – Poppy Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
