Obituary of Louise Marie Wall
Louise Marie (née Bélanger) WALL
July 5 1951 – November 3 2024.
After a short illness, Louise passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Mattawa, she was the daughter of the late Valmore and late Florence (Miljours) Bélanger. After graduating from nursing school in 1971, she married her beloved husband Royce Wall and started a career in the NICU at St Joseph's Hospital that would span 34 years, during which she cared for hundreds of babies while raising her own family. That caring extended into retirement, as she and Royce provided childcare to numerous children, including her honorary grandsons Ben and Adam. She was an active “Lady Shriner”, and with Royce spent countless hours volunteering at the shrine, where she made many close friends. Louise had a deep faith which carried her through many difficult periods in life. She was an avid traveller in retirement, taking cruises all over Europe with friends. Her pride and joy was her family. Her treasured granddaughters are blessed with many memories of days spent with Uma, and she attended every dance competition, recital, and school event possible. She was a frequent attendee at the hockey games and birthday parties of nieces, nephews, and even neighbourhood children. Her Boxing Day family get-togethers were a highlight of the season.
Louise is survived by Royce, her husband of 53 years; their children Shawn, Jenn, and Darcy (Natalie) Wall, her granddaughters Victoria and Marissa; sisters Gib Tessier, Denyse Séguin (Roger Houle), Irene (Dan) Nadon, brothers Jean (Gaëtanne), Gilles, Denis (Joan), Gerald (Nicky), sister-in-law Patricia O'Brien, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Jacqueline Lapierre, brothers-in-law Donald Séguin, Raymond Lapierre, Pierre Tessier, and Allan Wall, and sister-in-law Rollande (Dupuis).
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr Locke, Dr Shum, the emergency department of the North Bay Regional Health Centre, Louise's sister Gib for her devoted care, and the staff of the Nipissing Serenity Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise's memory can be made to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
At Louise's request, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday November 16th at 11:00 at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. A luncheon will follow immediate after in the church hall.
