Obituary of David Allan
DAVID BOYD ALLAN (DAVE)
It is with great sadness that the family shares the passing of David Boyd Allan, in the early hours of July 30, 2024, at his home in North Bay, at the age of 75.
Survived and much loved by his wife, Pat, of 42 years, Dave was the loving father to Shannon (Joe ) Stacey (Troy) and Michael; grandfather to Suzie, Sean, and Samantha; great grandfather to Evelyn. He will be missed by his brother-in-law, Jim, and his sister-in-law, Marsha. Predeceased by his mother, Marjorie, in 1984. and his father, Joseph (Joe), in 1991.
Dave was born in Peterbell, Ontario, on October 27, 1948, and was a proud member of Moose Cree First Nation. His early childhood was full of fun and adventure, travelling by air throughout the far reaches of Northern Ontario, with his father, who worked for Indian Affairs and was instrumental in the construction of the hospital at Moose Factory. At an early age, Dave moved to North Bay with his parents, where he lived the rest of life. He attended Algonquin Composite School and enjoyed sharing photos and high school memories with his fellow Trojans on the Facebook Group, Bit of the Bay.
For 32 years, Dave was employed by the City of North Bay, Engineering Department, as a head surveyor. He loved his work and remained life-long friends with his work mates, who will miss him greatly. He retired from the City in 2001, but continued to do private work for local construction companies for several years. If there was anything Dave loved, it was helping to plan, design and implement the systems and structures that keep the city functional.
His love for '60s and '70s music was well known and appreciated by his Facebook friends, where his postings of favourite groups and tunes were abundantly shared. He loved his family, he loved his home and he loved his life.
As were Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place. Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay, has been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be no service. A private celebration of Dave's life will be held at a later date. For those considering a memorial donation, the family asks that such be made to your preferred charity with heartfelt thanks.
