Obituary of Barbara Anne Moulder
Barbara Anne Moulder (nee MacDougall) passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center on May 28, 2024.
Barbara was born and raised in Carstairs, Alberta. She is predeceased by her parents, Alta Marie and Archie MacDougall and her older sister June. Barbara is survived by her husband Cliff along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara and Cliff were married on June 28, 1967 and happily lived together on their beautiful acreage in Balsam Creek.
Barbara attended the University of Alberta where she achieved a Bachelor of Education degree, with a specialty in Fashion and Design. Barbara taught for several jurisdictions over the years. She influenced the lives of many, particularly the students she met as a teacher of Family Studies at Chippewa Secondary School in North Bay, for 32 years.
Barbara had much to be proud of, but her favourites, besides marrying Cliff, were teaching in Baffin Island, touring Europe on a scooter, winning singing competitions as an adolescent and riding her pony to school for nine years.
Resilience and perseverance typify Barbara’s character. In spite of chronic health issues, she somehow managed to downhill ski, snowmobile, paddle, snowshoe and even fly fish. Not many people have caught a muskie on a six weight fly rod. Barbara did, and from a birch bark canoe as well!
Famous for her toy sewing machine collection, Barbara attended conventions every two years as a member of the Toy Stitchers International Inc. Her collection is now part of a museum exhibit.
Barbara delved into many of the arts, including piano, voice, photography, painting and decorative needle point. The latter artform is
not very well known, but it was something Barbara excelled at.
Barbara’s attention to detail was legendary as exemplified by the party she hosted for her friends on her 70th birthday.
The family would like to thank all of Barbara’s friends, caregivers and hospital staff for excellent care.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday, June 21st, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Myasthenia Gravis Society of Canada, or The Capitol Center of North Bay.
Barbara was such a positive force in the lives of many. She was loved so dearly and will be forever missed and remembered.
