Laurie, Nancy, Laurie Jr. and Julie:
I’m afraid that I really don’t have the language skills to express my sympathies properly for such a good friend and for that I apologize.
Although Barry and I grew up in North Bay and lived not far from each other, we weren’t close friends. Once we got to Northern we did become very good friends, but it wasn’t until we graduated and began working together that we became very close.
A lot of the memories we shared aren’t suitable to be reiterated here, however, what I do remember is hunting with Barry, especially when we’d travel up the Misema River from Beaverhouse Lake north through Howard, Kennedy and Verna Lakes. Although I was not a fisherman I did enjoy spending time fishing on Beaverhouse Lake and especially on Lake Temagami with Barry. Northern class reunions were also a favourite times that we shared.
Other events that come to mind are wallpapering a kitchen at 4 a.m. and rebuilding the old red Chevy Impala in Dobie. Looking back on the memories that I really cherish is babysitting Nan and Little Laurie at times when you couldn’t get your regular sitter. You both showed a lot of trust in someone who, at that time, would never be considered close to being suitable to care for young children. Likewise, you were both kind enough to lend me your truck when I had my Norton and when my own truck broke down in New Liskeard.
Although we did lose the closeness that we once shared when you moved to Thunder Bay we would keep in touch over the years and I still hold you close in my thoughts.
Although I know that my loss can never measure up to yours, I will always keep his memory and your friendship close to me.
With my sincerest condolences,
Dalei’m

Laurie and family.
Although we have not seen each other in many years, I was very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Barry. Actually, Barry has responded to a few of my inserts on Facebook and it was good to hear from him.I knew him for many years but not as long as I knew the Cooleys.
My deepest condolences to you and your family.

My heart goes out to Laurie and the girls. I worked on many projects with Barry and wish we could have the chance to work on many more. Barry was a true professional in his field and a great boss. Barry was also a greater friend and could be counted on at any time. He was also great with a barbecue and could cook a steak that melted in your mouth. Barry you will be sadly missed. Rest in peace Barry

I am doubly blessed to have known Barry first as the boy so much in love with my friend, Laurie... then he became my brother-in-law when I married Laurie's brother, Conrad...I remember visiting them at the Lakehead on our way out west... so many memories... best times on Lake Temagami... gifting Jonathon the boat, a promise that he would be on the lake again, giving David a little work on the island...watching our kids grow up together ... full of laughter and love...I will always remember...

Dear Laurie and family. It was so sad to hear of Barry's sudden passing. I so often think of the memorable time when you and Barry had Ray, Andre and I up at the cottage 2 years ago, summer of 2022. The fishing, laughing and amazing meals, fish of course, I will never forget. Blueberry pancakes for breakfast with berries picked right around the cottage.
I just wanted you to know that our thoughts are with you and your family in this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Claude "Baldy" Brunette

My deepest condolences to you all. I have great memories of Barry when I was a young girl living across the street from you in Timmins. I remember wonderful times at the cottage in Temagami as well as a visit to New Brunswick. Barry was always a kind soul full of wit and good humour. Laurie, Nancy, Laurie, Julie, and your extended families...I'm thinking of all of you at this very difficult time. My deepest sympathy.
