Obituary of Brian Lorentz Risdale
On the afternoon of January 23, 2024, Brian Lorentz Risdale passed away peacefully at the Mattawa General Hospital, after a long and courageous health battle. Brian was 73 years old.
Brian was born and raised in Vermilion, Alberta. This is where he met his loving wife, Linda (Watt) of 52 years. They had one daughter, Janice. Brian worked for many years with the Department of Agriculture, before moving on to finish his career in banking. In his spare time Brian loved spending his time at the cabin on Laurier Lake, planning his next fishing trip, or cheering on his favourite team, the Edmonton Oilers. In 2011, Brian and Linda took a big leap and moved East to Mattawa, Ontario to be closer to Janice and her husband, Kelvin Rempel and their 3 children, Jordyn (Ian), Brett, and Tyler. Brian loved watching his grandkids grow up and many memories were made roasting hot dogs on the campfire, sharing in the latest “catch”, and celebrating the holidays because they were all together again. Brian could often be seen on his 4-wheeler making his daily trek to visit neighbour Dave where laughter could be heard across the block, fishing stories were swapped, and some NHL rivalry playing out. At home Brian, could often be found in his favourite chair with a game on the tv and his faithful companion Keesha, his pug, on his lap.
Brian is predeceased by his father Bernard (Bunny), mother, Selma (Sammy), and 2 brothers Bert and Ross Risdale. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Kidney Foundation of Canada, or donors choosing.
