Obituary of Jean-Luc Duval

Please share a memory of Jean-Luc to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

By the grace of God, Jean-Luc left us peacefully and on his own terms. He passed suddenly in his sleep, at home. No doctors, no hospitals. Just as he would have wanted. So, in this, his family finds some peace and solace.

Jean-Luc leaves behind, his wife of 54 years, Judith Anne (Judy) Duval as well as his daughter Bridgit and partner Denis Bertrand, his sons Jason, Scott, Kirk and his much loved grandaughters Alexandréa and Mia Bédard.

Also mourning his loss are his siblings. His sister Rose-Aimé Bélanger, his brothers Clément, Gaétan and Clermont Duval as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Yvonne Vachon Duval, father Aimé Duval, his brothers Guilmene, Adélard, Gilles, Régis as well as his sister Marceline Duval Boulay.

Jean-Luc was a man of many talents but most of all he was a devoted husband and father. A man of few words, a quiet, gentle soul who was dedicated to serving his family. He was a very talented woodworker and carpenter. A gift he passed on to his youngest son, Kirk.

At the age of 18, from 1958 to 1976, he ran a family sawmill business called Duval Lumber. He knew not the meaning of the word retirement and continued to do accounting until his passing.

Words are insignificant to express our sorrow.

A Funeral Service for Jean-Luc will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Annes Church in Mattawa.

The family would like to extend a warm welcome to a Celebration of Life luncheon to follow the service at the Golden Age in Mattawa.

Donations in Jean-Luc's memory may be made to the Mattawa Hospital.
