Albertine Lafrenière (née Lafortune) 1928-2023
Albertine Lafrenière est décédée paisiblement à la Maison des aînés Algonquin à Mattawa en Ontario, le jeudi 7 décembre, 2023 à l’âge de 94 ans.
Elle était l’épouse bien-aimée de feu Roméo Lafrenière et la mère de feu Richard (Pauline), Mariette (Gilles Gaudet), Jean-Claude(Estelle), Diane (Jeffrey Archer), Henri (Shelley) et Fred (Brenda).
Fière grand-mère de 10 petits-enfants : Dawn, Melissa, Richard (Blue), Philipe, Benoît, Jean-Luc, Valérie, Claudia, Jordan ,Brandon et de 12 arrières petits-enfants. Elle laisse également dans le deuil ses deux sœurs, Claire et Lucille ainsi que son beau-frère, Réjean Lafrenière (Caroline).
Elle manquera à ses nombreux neveux et nièces, à sa famille élargie et à ses ami(e)s.
Albertine a beaucoup apprécié sa vie à la Maison des aînées. On se souviendra d’elle comme une résidente aimable, plaisante et engagée socialement. Ses enfants ont beaucoup apprécié cette maman remplie de vivacité; elle aimait coudre, décorer et surtout, toujours prête à embellir le milieu dans lequel ils vivaient. Elle cuisinait d’excellents repas et elle aimait recevoir la parenté et tous ses enfants et petits-enfants. D’ailleurs, elle aimait signer ses cartes de vœux de fêtes en se nommant : Memère Bert ou Memère in the Bush!
Le service funèbre aura lieu à l’Église Sainte - Anne le samedi16 décembre à 11h. L’inhumation au cimetière Sainte-Anne aura lieu plus tard au printemps de 2024.
En guise d’expressions de sympathie, des dons peuvent être faits à La maison des aînés Algonquin ou à l’Hôpital de Mattawa (Tree of Light).
La famille tient à remercier sincèrement le personnel de la Maison des aînés pour leurs excellents soins et leur accueil chaleureux.

Albertine Lafrenière passed away peacefully at Algonquin Nursing Home in Mattawa on Thursday, December 7th 2023 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Roméo Lafrenière, her eldest son, Richard (Pauline) and many of her sisters and brothers.
She was the loving mother of Mariette (Gilles Gaudet), Jean-Claude (Estelle), Diane (Jeffrey Archer), Henri (Shelley), and Fred (Brenda). Her memory will always be in the hearts of her 10 grandchildren: Dawn, Melissa, Richard (Blue), Philipe, Benoît, Jean-Luc, Valérie, Claudia, Jordan and Brandon. Albertine also had 12 great-grandchildren and all of them will fondly remember her as Memère in the Bush.
She leaves to grieve her sisters, Claire and Lucille and a brother in law Réjean Lafrenière (Caroline). She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Later in her life, Albertine enjoyed the presence of all the residents at Algonquin Nursing Home. She was known to be a pleasant and cheerful person. Her children and grandchildren will always remember Memère Bert as a doer: always sewing and planning different projects to embellish her home. She loved having visitors. Her cooking was appreciated and enjoyed by many members of her family.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St-Anne’s Catholic Church in Mattawa. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Algonquin Nursing Home or to the Tree of Light (Mattawa Hospital) would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Algonquin Nursing Home for their love, kindness and excellent care given to their mother, Mme Albertine .
The burial of the ashes and a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date, in the spring of 2024.
