Margaret Smith-Frayle, a devoted missionary teacher and steadfast educator, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Frayle, in 2020. They were united in marriage on October 4, 2008, forming a bond built on love and shared faith.

Loving sister of David Smith. Predeceased by her parents Simington ‘Matthew’ Smith and Margaret Elizabeth (née Pratt). Lovingly remembered by her extended family and many friends.

Margaret's journey in education began when she graduated from North Bay Teachers College in 1970. With a passion for teaching and a heart for service, she dedicated two years of her life as a missionary teacher in Haiti, touching the lives of countless children with her kindness and teachings.

Upon her return, she continued her teaching career for many years in the Nipissing District, where she inspired and nurtured young minds, leaving an indelible mark on the community. Margaret was not only an educator but also a woman of strong faith. She tirelessly worked to share God's word, living by example and uplifting others with her unwavering devotion.

Margaret and Ernie found immense joy in the great outdoors, embracing activities like canoeing and ATV riding. Their adventurous spirit led them to explore the beauty of nature, creating cherished memories along the way. Whether paddling down a tranquil river or navigating rugged trails on an ATV, they found solace and excitement in the natural world.

Beyond her outdoor adventures, Margaret had a green thumb and a passion for gardening. The vibrant blooms and thriving plants in her garden were a testament to her nurturing care and love for the earth. She found peace in cultivating beauty and sharing the wonders of her garden with those around her.

In the heart of her home, Margaret was a culinary enthusiast, infusing love and creativity into her cooking. She delighted in preparing delicious meals and gathering loved ones around the table, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter and love.

One of Margaret's most endearing qualities was her dedication to the community. She dedicated countless hours to volunteering and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether it was organizing community events, lending a helping hand, or offering her support and compassion, Margaret was a true pillar of generosity and kindness.

Margaret will be remembered for her compassion, faith, and the immeasurable impact she made on the lives of her students, colleagues, friends, and family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at 1:30 PM, at the Eau Claire Missionary Church. Interment of ashes in the Calvin Cemetery. Followed by a Celebration of Margaret’s Life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #254 in Mattawa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eau Claire Missionary Church in Margaret's honor.
