STRIDE: William 'Jack'
With deep sadness, the family of William ‘Jack’ Stride announces his peaceful passing on August 31, 2023, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, surrounded by his wife and loved ones, at the remarkable age of 94. He leaves behind a legacy of family, love, strength, and devotion that will forever be cherished.
Jack was the beloved husband of Louisette Marie 'Lou' (née Letourneau) for an incredible 53 years, a partnership filled with love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He will be lovingly remembered as the cherished father of Richard Stride and Suzanne McCafferty (Alan). His role as a father was marked by guidance, love, and unwavering support. His children will carry his wisdom and love with them throughout their lives.
Jack's joy extended to his role as "Grampa" to Alisha and Annica-Marie, whom he adored with all his heart. He leaves them with the precious gift of his love and cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
He was a dear brother to Elsie Coulter, Bill Stride, Bob Stride, and predeceased by several other siblings. Jack's family bonds ran deep, and he shared a special connection with his siblings that brought them comfort and joy throughout their lives.
Jack was immensely proud of his service to his country as a dedicated member of the Canadian Armed Forces. His commitment to preserving freedom and protecting the nation's values was a testament to his character and bravery.
For many years, Jack dedicated his talents and hard work to the building of the Trans Canada Highway for the Ministry of Transportation, where he retired as an Office Supervisor. His professionalism and leadership left an indelible mark on his colleagues, and he will be remembered for his dedication and contributions.
A celebration of Jack's remarkable life will be held on October 21st at 11 a.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 599, 30 Legion Drive RR #5 North Bay ON providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share stories, and honor the legacy of a truly amazing man.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jack's memory to NipissingSerenityHospice.ca, a tribute to a man who believed in the power of giving back to the community.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of C3 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. They particularly appreciated the exceptional care given to Jack during his time there by Kayla and Mindy.
William Jack Stride's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived, and a legacy of love that will endure for generations to come.
