Obituary of Ruby Marion Fawcett
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruby Fawcett (Parent) announces her passing at the Algonquin Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 18. She was in her 99th year.
Ruby will be deeply missed by her children, Patsy Belanger (Jake), Ken Fawcett (Terri) and David Fawcett.
Grandma Fawcett will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren David Belanger (Vanessa), Michael Belanger (Kelly), Bryan Belanger (Saman Raza), Karyn Sherman (Jake), Dustin Fisher (Jen), Ashton Fawcett (Mike) and Shayne Fawcett (Renee). Precious Nan to Alissa Fawcett (Josh), Jessie Fawcett and Logan Fawcett.
Ruby leaves behind many great grandchildren, sister, Peggy Lessard (Late Bobby) and several nieces and nephews.
Ruby was predeceased by her first husband Rodolphe (Boy) Montreuil and her second husband Howard Fawcett, siblings Mae Trahan (late Rolly), Annette Bellaire (late Jimmy), Betty Lou Nykanen (late Bill), Oddie Parent (late Doreen), niece Brenda Mathieu, nephews Guy Trahan, Bobby Lessard and Brian Lessard.
Born and raised in Mattawa, Ruby had a successful 20-year career as a hairdresser. From 1976 to 1991 she went on to lovingly care for the residents of the original Algonquin Nursing Home.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, knitting, cooking, and rocking her many “little ones”. Her favourite pastimes were bingo and curling.
The family wishes to express the depth of their appreciation to the staff of the Algonquin Nursing Home for their dedication and care.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00am on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, followed by interment of ashes at St. Anne’s cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Algonquin Nursing Home.
