Obituary of Roger Charles Hamelin

Passed away peacefully at Eastholme in Powassan on Wednesday, July 12 at the age of 84. He was the loving husband of 51 years to Sandra (nee Dickinson) who predeceased him in 2011. Loving father to Mark (Tracy), Dean (partner Lisa), and Debra (Terry) Hunt. He was special Papa to Joshua (partner Kim), Jordan (Allie), Tieghan (partner Adam) and Sebastian and great-grandfather to Curtis, Miles, Ryleigh and Paityn. He is survived by his sisters: Francoise (late Adel and Peter), Priscilla (late Douglas) and Jeannine (Raymond Decaire). Predeceased by his parents Emile and Annette (nee Gauthier) and brothers Alcide and Charles.
Roger came from humble beginnings on a family dairy farm in Charlton, ON, supported his family working in mining in Sudbury and eventually became a talented carpenter and entrepreneur. His family owned and operated Unibond doors in Hamilton, ON. Upon leaving Hamilton behind, Roger and his father started another family business; he ran this successful cabinet company (Hamelin’s Industries Inc.) in Corbeil since 1984, and it is still operating today.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated and a service will be held at a later date.
