I’m so sorry for your loss, Mrs Carr was an amazing teacher, she taught me in 1975-1976. She always made you feel like you were the only one on the room. To this day I still make her cream puffs. When we built our home 22 years ago, my kitchen was designed same as home economics kitchen at West Ferris. I wish I could attend her service, unfortunately I’m leaving August 1st for North Bay from Alberta for my mothers celebration of life. R.I.P Mrs Carr I’ve never forgotten you. Always Wendy Fraser (nee: Sailes)

Mrs. Carr was one of my favourite secondary teachers. Even as a teenager I recognized how gracious she was in the Home Economics classroom when dealing with a huge range of abilities. It could not have been an easy task! Her warmth, her patience, and her lovely disposition were traits I remember well, as one of her more needy students. She was so encouraging and so kind. Mrs. Carr had that unique gift of making every person feel special in her presence. She was a tremendous asset to the faculty of West Ferris School and has touched the lives of so many of the young people who were lucky enough to have had her as a teacher. My deepest condolences to her family, who will miss her so very much. ~ Cathy Cosgrove

I met Mrs. Carr in September, 1968 and knew her for almost as long as I've been friends with Laural. We were in Grade 6 together and Mrs. Carr taught us in the afternoon (hence I was always uncomfortable in addressing her as Sheila, even though she insisted.) Even as an 11-year-old, I recognized that her warmth, intelligence, sense of style, and gentle humour made her a very special person . She always listened and took me seriously as I babbled away about some topic or another. In fact, the last time I saw her, we spent the evening sitting around Jacques and Laural's fire pit when I heard her ask "Has Jean gone home?" "No Sheila, I'm right across from you, in the shadows." "Oh good," she replied. "I've just never known you to be quiet for so long." It's a great last memory and I still laugh when I think about it.

Heaven is blessed with my'Aunt Sheila'. Magdeleine and your Mom are enjoying drinks without having to worry about babies and kids in the lake.
I will miss her kindness, humour and generosity. The world is a sadder place without her and all she taught me. Memory may have failed her but it didn't fail any of us. We remember so many good conversations and how she always brought the right things for our kids besides good conversations. I do feel I am missing my North Bay Mom from not letting me run away or into the lake with my twin Mike. I almost hope she has retired from cooking in the next life despite depriving her friends of great dinners. Many happy memories and prayers for you Mike, Laural, Nancy and Robert and families.
