Obituary of Dawne Jamieson
Sylvia “Dawne” Jamieson (Cooley)
Dawne Jamieson
February 27, 1939 – May 26, 2023
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness we announce Dawne’s passing on May 26, 2023, at the NBRHC with her family by her side.
Dawne is survived by her children Christine Etches (Patrick) and Rob Jamieson (Allison) and her granddaughters Mallory and Megan Jamieson.
Born and raised in North Bay, Dawne was the oldest of 8 siblings. Survived by Heather McCarthy, Conrad Cooley (Patti), Laurie Bradford (Barry), Liisa Meinke, Kathy Gauthier (Dennis), Ian Cooley (Tammy), and Cameron Cooley.
Dawne was a hardworking individual who dedicated her life to serving others. She worked tirelessly until her 70s, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her kind and compassionate nature shone through in all her interactions, and she had a remarkable ability to see the best in people. Dawne was a caregiver to many, providing love and support to those who needed it most. She lived a life of generosity and selflessness, always giving of herself and never asking for anything in return. Her legacy as a giver, not a taker, will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.
Dawne’s family would like to thank Care Partners, VON, the nurses on 3B at the NBRHC, Dr. Melissa Stacey for her professional care and support given to us and our mom over the past few years. A special thank you to Dr. Mike Leckie for his compassion, friendship, and home visits. Mom thought the world of Dr. Mike.
A Memorial Visitation for Dawne will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Martyn Funeral Home (464 Wyld St. North Bay). A Memorial Service will follow in the chapel at 1:00pm.
Donations in Dawne’s memory may be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
