Jim was, for years, my assistant in the lower auditorium of the Wesleyan Church. While myself, and others taught Sunday School, Jim was busy preparing a healthy snack for the children after their lesson was over. At the same time he was preparing coffee, tea and a separate snack for the parishioners to enjoy after each service. All on his dime! The children, mine included, loved Jim. He took time to speak to them about their concerns, their daily activities and answer any questions they might have. I loved Jim as well, his smile and easy going manner provided a feeling of peace and well-being.
Until we meet again, Darlene

Dear Phyllis, Anne-Marie and Carl,
It was with deep sadness that we learned the news today of Jim’s passing. Jim was a wonderful man who we all very much appreciated. During my time at Laurentian Wesleyan Church Jim was both a steadfast supporter of the work the church was doing and an ever-present encourager in my ministry. I very much enjoyed our weekly conversations while he photocopied the Church Bulletins. Our children were very fond of Jim as well. In his quiet sort of way, he always showed them that they were appreciated and loved. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. With love, Chris, Tina, Nicholas and Serena Lang.

So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We will miss all the stories and easy company.
Jim was like the grandfather we never had. He was always caring and showed us attention in our own interests. Like the times Jim helped with grade 7 science, or the quinoa and honey bread recipe he passed along, or allowing me to peruse through the bookkeeping Jim meticulously maintained. My brothers and always felt welcome and loved by Jim.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories and we’ll see in heaven soon Jim!

Phyllis, what a beautiful best friend you had. Jim was so kind and gentle! May he rest in peace.
I always remember him telling us about driving the North highway. Telephone at one end to say you entered the long stretch of highway and telephone at the other end of the trip to say you made it. We made it to Longlac!
Our condolences to the entire family. We are thinking of you.
Love Marilyn and Paul

I was so very sad to hear of yours, and our, loss. I will miss Jim’s conversations and stories the most. Jim had such a broad knowledge base you could ask him about almost any subject and he had an answer—or would find it! Jim was also a good and careful listener, fully engaged in whatever subject we were discussing. He was a skilled storyteller also, and had a knack of telling a story with a surprise twist of humour embedded in it.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Lorna

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Anne-Marie, who has become our friend since she moved to Cobourg. Although we never met her father, we are sure that he must have been a nice man…having raised such a nice daughter. All the best to the family at this difficult time.

Uncle Jim was so kind and gentle. I marveled at his artwork on Grandma's walls- paintings and charcoal pencil drawings of nature scenes. I loved that he looked and sounded so much like Papa as he got older. The first topic of conversation when we visited was always, "How was the drive? What route did you take?" I always heard that he drove just like my Dad- cautious, by the book, never above the speed limit! Good at fixing things, like Dad too.
I hope to see Aunt Phyllis, Carl, and Anne-Marie soon to give you my love in person!
