Obituary of Jacob "Jake" Hoover Grove

JACOB (JAKE) HOOVER GROVE 

August 7, 1932 - September 16, 2022 

It is with great sadness that Jacob Hoover Grove has gone to be with his Lord on September 16, 2022. Although it was unexpected, he passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family. Lovingly missed by children Dale Grove (Linda), Blair Grove (Cherie) and Melanie Michaud (Claude), as well as grandchildren Jacob Grove (Leslie), Andrew Grove (Linda), Megan Berg (Anton), Emmalee Giroux (Chad), Karly Burke (Brendan), and Krista Brazeau (Zachary). He was blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren and a fourteenth on the way. Also survived by his siblings David Grove (Lilly) and Mary Postil (Russell). Predeceased by his dearly missed wife, Marion Grove, and brother, Harold Grove (Alice). 

Anyone who knew Jake knew of his passion for farming and love of horses. In his earlier years he would often be found with his team of horses logging in the bush or plowing his fields. He also competed in many heavy-horse shows and was extremely proud of his dear Belgian, Chief. Every year he would share his appreciation for these majestic creatures by taking friends and family on winter sleigh rides. Once he retired from showing horses you would often find him riding around the backroads of Calvin township in his driving cart with his Standardbred, Hardy, and he continued to ride his Belgian-Quarter Horse, Bo, right up until his 80th birthday. 

As he continued to get older, his goal was to make it to his 90th birthday. His loved ones can gratefully confirm that he achieved this milestone last month where family and friends celebrated with him dressed in the colors none other than John Deere green and yellow. 

Jake’s family would like to especially thank Dr. Bryan Williams for his compassion and dedication to providing the best possible care to Jake in his last few days. The family invites you to join them for a celebration of life at Eau Claire Missionary Church in Calvin Township on October 8, 2022 at 10:00am. If desired, donations to the Mattawa Hospital would be appreciated by his family.
