So very sorry to hear of the passing of Marinus. I worked with him at the MNR in North Bay for many years and spent quite a few hours scaling and walking bush operations with him. On one trip in the MNR truck I remember him demonstrating his defensive driving skills on a bush road near the North Bay dump, as we narrowly missed a rather large deer that ran across the road in front of us - we also avoided a lot of paperwork too,
He will be missed.
My condolences to the Verwey family

My deepest condolences to the Verwey family. Marinus and Laurie truly are the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for - by far. I will always remember the conversations I had outside with Marinus, his words of wisdom, and his graciously shoveling my walkway every time it snowed (bright and early) before I'd leave for work. A true gem whose presence will be greatly missed by me and many. Rest easy my friend.
And to my dear Laurie, if you ever need anything at all, please do not hesitate to reach out, anytime. ❤️

Dear Laurie and Family
My husband and I would like to express our most sincere condolences to you and your family.
I had the privilege of working with Marinus at the MNR. He was always very kind to me. I had a young son who was sick with a kidney disease and Marinus would always ask how he was doing. It meant all the world to me.
Marinus was a very genuine person . I am sure he has a special place in heaven.
Sincerely yours, Estelle and Andy Rivet

Thankyou JP, for your special remembrances of who Marinus was to you, and how important he made you feel. I'm sure he was singing along to your Amazing Grace rendition!
He's passed the baton onto your nephew, who I'm sure is doing a fine job, keeping the lakes stocked with fish for the MNR.
God bless you, for your support and prayers! Laurie and family ❤️

My condolences to Laurie, Melissa, Klaas and Amelia and their spouses and to the Verwey family.
I will remember Marinus for is sense of humour, is love and compassion he had for people.
He always greeted me with a big hug in the foyer of the church as soon as I arrived.
My nephew Ryan has taken over is job at the MNR.
I can't believe a person actually gets payed for stocking trout in small remote lakes!! I would do this for free! lol.
Sincerly, J.P. Perron

Laurie and family,
I enjoyed working with Marinus, and respect that he cared deeply about the local forest in the North Bay area. He was passionate about protecting the forest, and challenged us to manage all the values in the forest properly. I remember his laugh well. I am thankful that we named a road after him, to acknowledge his many years of dedication towards forest management in the Nipissing Forest. .

I am so sorry to hear of Marinus passing. I love that he knew and followed our Lord and Saviour and so we know he is in a much better place. Still those of you left behind need consoling and so my sympathy goes out to you all. You will miss him terribly. I pray you all have peace about his passing but as you go through the process of mourning remember that he suffers no more and he believed in, worshiped and worked for his Lord and Saviour and he is assured of a place in paradise.
A memory I have of Marinus goes way back to high school days. We lived just up the street from one another and there were several times Marinus would walk me home from high school. I am grieving with you!!!
