Obituary of Dalton George Kellar
DALTON GEORGE KELLAR
It is with the utmost sorrow that the family of Dalton George Kellar, born June 5, 1950 in North Bay, Ontario, announce the passing of this truly giant of a man, in so many ways, at 71 years old.
Dalton left us to “pave” the highway to heaven for the rest of us left behind.
Dalton will always be remembered by the love of his life and soul mate for 45 years, Dolores Kellar (MacKenzie), his loving daughter Cheryl-ann Harling (Gary) and his son Norman Kellar, and all of the pets he enjoyed so much. Left behind with treasured memories of their Ampa are his two Grandsons, Drake and Devin Harling
Predeceased by his parents, Norman Kellar and Marjorie Kellar (Kett) and his sister Claire.
He will be sadly missed by his sisters Suzanne Scott (Bill), Phyllis Jones (Stewart - deceased) his brother Gilbert Kellar (Wendy), many very very special nieces and nephews who meant the world to him, as well as great nieces and nephews. Dalton will be missed dearly by his Father in Law, Ken MacKenzie, Mother in Law Anne Mertes, and his Brother In Law, Ken Mackenzie Jr (Sherry). He will be fondly remembered by any and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dalton fought an extremely strong willed and courageous battle of many health issues for the past number of years but always with a smile on his face, the will to survive, and relentless determination.
With the love and support of his family and many friends, Dalton was able to enjoy his final days in his own home the way he wanted. Special Thank You to Dr. Moore, Dr. Blake, his care coordinator Emily Campbell, the VON Nurses, the PSW’s from Canadian Shield and a special thank you to Kevin, for always going over and above.
He was certainly “One Tough Bugger”
Dalton’s laugh, sense of humour, crazy silly lovable nature, his powerful love for his family and friends, were larger than life itself, and was endearing to all who had the pleasure to meet him.
Dalton work life was extremely important to him, trying very hard to get 50 years of work in, for basically the same company. He started with Standard paving in 1967, worked as it changed to Lafarge Construction and continued on as it became what is now Pioneer Construction. Due to health issues Dalton had to retire in 2015, with 48 years of service, a record in itself. Dalton loved his work family and always said “If you find something you love to do, you will never work a day in your life”. The gang at pioneer allowed him to pave a couple parking lots with them over the next couple years that allowed him to say he worked 50 years , that was truly special for him.
As per Dalton’s wishes there will be no formal services. Cremation has been entrusted to Martyn’s Funeral Home. A celebration of life for his great man will be planned in the near future, for close family and friends. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Humane Society in Daltons memory.
