Condolences Cousins,
I have fun memories of family visits to New Lowell where Aunt Joyce kept a lid on things amongst the antics. And I loved listening to the late night laughter of the adults as stories were told around that big kitchen table. Aunt Joyce taught us new card games at Sundridge and there was no getting away with cheating or a dumb move. I remember delicious cabbage rolls and my Mom relaxing over another cup of coffee and cigarette (earlier) when her sister came to visit.
Fondly,
Susan McClure (daughter of Joyce's sister Margaret)

On behalf of the Ontario Library Association I would like to express our condolences. Marion was a recipient of the association's James Bain Medallion Award which recognizes outstanding leadership in the governance of a public library. Dear Cousins,
Visits to your majestic New Lowell home were always an adventure for us McClure’s.
I remember Aunt Joyce’s hearty laugh and frequent smiles as well.
I remember her necessary patience for her beloved, Uncle Jack, the keeper of bells.
I remember fresh cotton summer blouses and tall, tall kitchen cupboards that would be painted regularly in jolly colours. Orange stands out.
I remember being amazed how she could Mother so many amazing children and I somewhat envied the life of a big family.
Aunt Joyce worked hard and I don’t remember ever hearing a complaint.
I wish I could have seen her cry. That is a strange thing to say, but true.
I would have liked to hear more stories of her younger days in Virden. I realize that these stories were not shared at the big kitchen table with my Mother, Margaret, her sister. I would welcome knowing more.Conversation would more likely revolve around Uncle Jack and his capers.
Maybe Aunt Mary Jane will pipe in with some Virden memories.
May we all give ourselves permission to grieve completely , assisting Aunt (Marion) Joyce Leckie Smith’s spirit passage from this world to the Heavens. And May we take all the lessons and inspirations from her life to help us live well and also to die well and complete.
With love,
Sarah McClure

Bonnie, Randy, Gloria, Peggy, Penny and families, we were saddened to learn of Aunt Joyce’s passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
I have some great memories of your mom; she had such a great laugh and nothing ever seemed to ruffle her (well, maybe politics did, but not much else?).
Keep your memories close,
Love,
Karen and Dave Chown and family (Chantal and Adam, Trevor and Jenny, and Lauren)

Bonnie, Randy, Gloria, Peggy and Penny,
Sending each of you and your families our sincere condolences in the passing of Aunt Joyce. Over the years we kept in touch by our annual Christmas cards. On occasion, while spending the summer in Sundridge, Aunt Joyce would pop in for a visit and share a glass of wine. Her visits and stories were always lively and enjoyable.
