I had the distinct honour of working for Mr. Goulet early in my career. I learned many lessons from him on how to treat people, and how to conduct oneself professionally. Mr. Goulet was a consummate gentleman.

I lived in North Bay during the 1960s and into the 1980s. I remember well Mr Goulet and his civic involvement. My parents thought he was a fine man and a credit to North Bay politics. He was a giant of an example of good citizenship. From his war record to his business prowess, his family life, to his political and volunteer contributions to the city Mr Goulet deserves everyone's admiration and respect. The waterfront - the Golden Mile - was his dream and it was a difficult dream to accomplish but look at the waterfront today. Thank you Mr Goulet. You deserve a statue. You should have received the Order of Canada decades ago.

My deepest sympathies. I've thought about Bruce often since Jackie's passing.
The thrill of my lifetime happened at Bruce Office Supply when I saw Tim Horton and got his autograph. I was speechless, which as you know doesn't happen often.
Take care.

Bruce touched my heart whenever we spoke. He had a way of making you feel like there was nothing more important than talking with each other at that moment. This was how he was with everything he did. He did it with focus, with passion and with a heart that knew no bounds.
My heart goes to all of the Goulet's at this tremendous loss.
It is however comforting to know that the apple does not fall from Bruce and Jackie's tree, for the whole Goulet family is one in a million.
I regret to have missed Bruce's celebration of life at his funeral, but I will look forward to the day where we can continue the Kahnert-Goulet tradition, in some fashion or other.
With lots of love and hugs to you all.

My memory is of a constant smile, and of a neighbour who was a recipient of his kindness in my youth.
Community projects were supported and encouraged even in my earliest formative years.

It was an honour and privilege to play ball for Bruce Office Supply and then to work with him as mayor. His sense of fairness, honesty and integrity made him a class act and just a joy to be around.
My condolences to Mike, Paul and your families. Thank you for sharing him with our city.

Mr. Goulet always inspired me to do better and be better. He was a true citizen never afraid to take up a challenge and to see it through to success. Including raising you, Paul and Michael, who gave him a run for his money! A principled man, Mr. Goulet cared about the community, everyone in it, and doing right.
As a young teen, I remember one cold, dark November morning walking over with my hockey gear to the Goulet home to catch a ride with Mr. Goulet and the boys to a pre-season hockey workout at Memorial Gardens. On that particular morning, Mr. Goulet answered the door in his pajamas; everyone had overslept - M & P would not be ready to go. Mr. Goulet, without hesitation, dressed, warmed up the car and hustled me off to the Garden. With good cheer. Because he felt it was the right thing, and you do that with a smile!
I think of that moment when I am called upon to stretch a little for others. A leader like Mr. Goulet not only acts well himself, but inspires others to. He set a standard. On Main Street in the store. At City Hall. At home. I am grateful to have known him. May his memory be a blessing. Shelly Freedman s.freedman@verizon.net

I moved from North Bay some 40 years ago but I remember Mr. Goulet very well. I bought all my high school supplies from his store on Worthington and Cassell St. He was truly a man of vision and service. I am so happy that the Golden Mile bears his name. My sincere sympathy to his surviving family and those from The Bay who remember him fondly as I do.
