Condolences to Sandy's family. I always enjoyed Sandy's chats & tales during his chiropractic visits, especially his canoe tripping advice. He will be missed.

I recall the fun we always had in Mr. Peden's math class. He was always joking with us and smiling. I also remember that some of us tried to talk him out of naming his daughter Rowena, but he would not change his mind. Over the years, whenever I would think about West Ferris, I would always think of Mr. Peden. The world is now a lesser place than it was.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sandy's passing. He was an amazing math teacher with the ability to make math simple. I remember when Rowena was born, he would tell us how he was teaching her calculus and how well she understood it. We also heard tales of how favourite shaving brushes and gold pens disappeared only to be discovered down hot air vents; partridge hunting with only your hands; a wife left in the snow while ski-dooing; tales of lorries making the mistake of stopping in town, while loaded with fresh fruit; the saving of scotch after a train derailment - thanks in part to hand drills and pails; and, the danger of rolling ball bearings down lecture hall stairs at university. All of these tales helped us laugh and relax so our brains were happy to absorb new math theorems. I am forever grateful for his ability to demystify math and make it fun for grades 11, 12, and 13 Algebra. May you find comfort in the knowledge that Sandy lives on on the many lives and hearts that he touched.

Dear Alison, Rowena and Sanders
Thinking of you at this difficult time. So grateful to have known Sandy and the whole family. After my struggles with calculus despite his teaching skill it was a wonderful adjustment getting to know him out at the lake. I remember stories of wee Rowena and sanders back at west ferris as a student. Seems like yesterday. A good man and friend and I am fortunate to have known him. A toast to Sandy.

Condolences to Sandy’s family. I taught with him at ACS. I can still see him on break , in the teachers lounge, with a huge cigar in hand holding court on a current issue. Well loved by faculty and students.

A great friend to have known and respected. Beautiful family and definitely best scones in Algonquin park and beyond. A true teacher of life and calculus will miss his scorching humour and smile. To his wee Rowena, Sanders and Allison a huge love and smile from Bill Macfarlane and Northern Wilderness Outfitters Limited. Many stories to follow on crystal lake this spring.

Condolences Alison and family. Callander and Branch 445 Legion will miss Sandy's presence. We all had such great times at Robbie Burns. The shortbreads were baked to perfection. A proud family man with stories galore and infectious smile. RIP. Virginia Onley.

Our condolences from the Brazeau family to the Peden family. Alexander was a true gentleman and a great neighbor. We've had the opportunity to eat his baking. We could sit, talk and listen to his voice and stories for hours. We enjoyed the bagpipes also. He will be missed deeply by those who knew him. Where there is deep grief, there was great love.
