Our deepest condolences to you Christie, Kelly, Tim and your families. Your dad was a wonderful guy who was incredibly kind and generous to Cynthia, Leah and I. I sure missed seeing your dad at coffee at Tim Horton’s weekday mornings before work—he was a funny guy who enjoyed a good laugh and made the world a much better place.

Our sincerest sympathies, Christie, Kelly & Tim on the loss of your dad. Gerry was a special guy, an honest & respectable man, easy to like & get along with, he was a true gentleman with a kind & thoughtful soul. He always spread cheer wherever he went, he loved to laugh & have everyone laugh along with him. We enjoyed his stories as much as he liked telling them. He loved his family & his spot on Trout Lake.
Our thoughts are with you; his kindness, compassion & spirit will live on through those he has left behind.
Marcia & John Morris, Englehart

Gerry and I shared many wonderful times together, often with each other’s families. We danced on the grass at Kelly’s and John’s wedding and he spent a few cottage weekends with my family where he was dumped into the lake! My daughter, Erin, didn’t realize she was supposed to gently step on the sea doo when getting on and flipped the Seadoo. Gerry, Erin and Lauren (the seadoo driver) all came up sputtering and shocked into laughter. Gerry had a way of sliding in so effortlessly no matter the occasion or people. We sure enjoyed many a steak, his favourite, at the Steak House in New Liskeard. We provided each other with companionship as we entered our golden years and mine were certainly made brighter with our adventures together. Gerry drove to Englehart for visits and I in turn was able to take the Northlander to North Bay. As our transportation options lessened and age made travel more difficult, we stayed closer to our own towns, homes and families. I will always remember Gerry with so much fondness and appreciation for the wonderful joy he brought into my life and my family’s. Rest in peace Gerry. Sending all of my love and condolences to his entire family. The world is certainly dimmer without his precious light and laughter.
Love Maureen

Dear Christie, Kelly, John, Tim, Metzie and family
Larry and I are sending our deepest sympathy as you mourn the loss of your dad. He was such a gem - so positive, friendly, funny and compassionate. He livened every family affair with his effervescence, stories and jokes.
Before I really got to know your dad, I always wondered who the friendly conductor was on the train. He brightened many a traveller's day with his witty chit-chat all the while connecting fellow passengers as he collected tickets. He seemed to know everyone between Timmins and North Bay and beyond I’m sure. He was officially a conductor but in my eyes he will always be a connector with his ability to draw people in with laughter that easily and quickly turned into friendship - if only for the duration of a train ride. He had a gift that disarmed every soul. Gerry was also a true gentleman driven by integrity, thoughtfulness and the highest of values – always ready to lend a hand and provide support.
We loved having Gerry as part of our family for many years – the memories will be treasured even more so as he makes his forever way home on the beloved Northlander.
Love Cassie and Larry

Our deepest condolences to all of the family. Chris has often talked about the kindness that Uncle Jerry showed him. He let him drive his car when they were at Aunt Rita's cottage, a red Dodge he thinks it was. Took him to North Bay and they went out shopping. Told Chris to pick out whatever he wanted, he couldn't believe it. He came back to Barry's Bay sporting a purple jacket, new tops and pants. He definitely had a heart of gold and showed many acts of kindness to the Kelly family. Forever in our hearts.
