Obituary of Marie Claire Elizabeth Gay Clarke

Passed away peacefully at the Mattawa Hospital, on Thursday, September 23^rd, 2021. Thanks to Dr. Jinnah and Dr. Gushe and the nursing staff at Mattawa Hospital. Marie Claire Elizabeth “Gay” (nee Belanger), was the beloved daughter of the late Wilfred & Doreen Belanger. Loving mother of Pat Clarke (Mexico), Laurie Clarke and her husband Gerry Janveaux of Mattawa. Predeceased by her sons Dan (Wynter) and Michael Clarke. Loving grandmother to Leslie Clarke (Mathieu Tremblay). Dearly loved sister of Emile Belanger and predeceased by her sister Jackie. She will be dearly remembered by her childhood friends of 70 years, Helgi McElroy and Valma Isok. Their many trips this summer with their daughters, Cindy and Ellen made mom most happy. Special thank you to mom’s neighbours who were there to lend her a helping hand. Thanks to Nico Walters and Elaine Bartlett and their children River and Willow for showing my mom so much love “She loved her angels”. Thanks for all the family and friends for all the visits and calls this past summer. Thanks to the Jones family, who showed mom so much kindness. The late Ruth Jones and mom formed a special friendship this past summer. Thanks to Gerry Janveaux, who ran all mom’s errands, ran her to appointments, and the many chili dinners.Thanks to Mike Belanger of Belanger Bus Lines for the many outings this summer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Parish on Friday, October 1, at 11:00 am. Interment at St. Anne’s Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the Martyn & Sloan “Mattawa Chapel”,.
